With innovation at the core of its growth strategy, Boston Scientific has been using digital signage for several years. However, as their needs evolved, the existing solution could no longer keep pace, leading them to adopt the Media4Display digital signage solution.

 

The screen network established during the initial rollout remained intact, with no adjustments to their strategic placement. Locations were thoughtfully selected to target high-traffic and strategic areas across the organization. These include:

In a logistics and industrial context where optimization and responsiveness are critical, Media4Display plays a strategic role by transforming SAP data into visual information displayed on production and preparation lines. This real-time integration visualizes critical information, such as shipping orders and production targets, and enables operational adjustments based on logistics priorities.

In Order Preparation Zones, Media4Display automatically displays SAP-generated order data, highlighting orders to be shipped by country, with data refreshed every 20 seconds.

In Warehouses, Screens at each workstation display goals and the remaining tasks. A schematic dashboard provides a clear, intuitive overview of all storage stations along the chain.

Boston Scientific schematically represented all storage stations along the chain on this dashboard, providing a clear and instantly understandable view for everyone. Media4Display enables conditional displays based on values or events, ensuring that indicators are updated in real-time. Colors automatically adjust according to specific thresholds, clearly highlighting any preparation delays.

  • The blue corridor represents a conveyor belt transporting various produced parts for storage.
  • When a barcode is scanned, the item is directed to a storage station, and the corresponding quantity for that station is automatically updated on the screen.
  • When a storage station exceeds certain items (variable by station), the rectangle's color changes based on predefined levels, indicating the urgency level.
  • Operators have multiple screens positioned along the conveyor belt, allowing them to identify stations requiring immediate attention for storage quickly.

This intuitive system enhances real-time stock management, improving productivity and reducing processing times.

From On-Premise to Cloud

Boston Scientific previously used an on-premise digital signage solution that had become outdated and inefficient. Transitioning to a modern, cloud-based solution was essential to meet growing demands.

 

The choice of change had been made, and the question of moving from on-premise to the cloud arose. This desire to change the business model was motivated by two key factors:

  • Infrastructure and Update Management: Cloud solutions eliminate the need for local IT teams to handle infrastructure and updates, allowing them to focus on strategic business applications. Updates are implemented automatically, ensuring access to the latest features and secure infrastructure.
  • Enhanced Support: Cloud-based services include specialized, responsive technical support, simplifying IT management across multiple sites.
