Why Opt for Digital Signage?

In the ever-evolving landscape of corporate communication, branding and customer experience, SPP had to rethink its communication strategy at its headquarters and branches. SPP's project combined two initiatives into one:

  • An internal communication project aimed at employees at the company's headquarters.
  • An external marketing communication project targeting customers visiting their various branches.

For both projects, digital signage naturally emerged as the optimal solution, enabling streamlined and dynamic communication while enhancing and promoting both the corporate and employer brand images. SPP already had a trusted relationship with Qex, a certified Telelogos integrator in Eastern Europe, which is why this project was entrusted to them.

1. Digital Signage at the Headquarters

At SPP's headquarters, digital signage was implemented as a powerful internal communication tool to keep employees informed, enhance employer branding, and strengthen employee engagement. The primary objective was to ensure that all staff had access to company news. The content displayed on the internal network of screens includes:

  • Upcoming Events: Keeping employees informed of important dates, meetings, and events.
  • Regulations: Communicating internal restrictions or guidelines that may impact daily operations.
  • Corporate Life: Informing about internal initiatives, announcements, and company news.
  • Advertising: Although not the primary focus, SPP occasionally broadcasts their own advertisements to inform employees of new spots and support specific internal commercial initiatives.

2. Digital Signage in their Branches

In addition to introducing a modern and innovative look in their branches, SPP sought a significant digital transformation by shifting from traditional paper posters to digital displays. This change was driven by the need to offer new services to customers, immediate communication, brand image enhancement, cost efficiency, and sustainability:

  • Brand Image: Currently, ten branches are equipped with digital signage. The project aims to extend this technology to all branches in the coming years, transforming the overall brand image into a modern and innovative one. Digital signage is set to become the standard in all branches.
  • New Services: Integrating touch devices allows SPP to provide customers with real-time access to information and services independently.
  • Efficiency and Cost Optimization: So far the adoption of digital signage has proven to be a cost-effective approach in terms of time and expenses for SPP. Beyond the gains in communication responsiveness, another advantage was reducing long-term costs. There is no longer a need to organize printing and manually change posters regularly. Everything is managed centrally and automatically planned through Media4Display.
  • Reduced Waste: By replacing posters that were short-lived for video walls, SPP aims to reduce paper usage and minimize logistics around point-of-sale advertising changes.

How Did Telelogos Meet SPP's Needs?

Initially, three branches were already equipped with a digital signage solution. However, as the project evolved, new needs emerged, and the previous solution showed its limits. SPP wanted to diversify its digital devices, including video walls, tablets, and kiosks. Additionally, SPP sought advanced remote management capabilities. To meet these requirements, integrator Qex immediately proposed a switch to Telelogos solutions.

SPP wanted to manage not only the content itself but also the hardware/software on which the content runs. This is where the Clyd MDM solution came into play. It is crucial that all installed hardware in the branches is efficient and easy to control to ensure that customers always see the right content at the right time. Furthermore, the digital devices needed to be remotely controlled, especially for automatic screen on/off operations, to minimize energy consumption.

On average, there are 10 screens per branch, combining various types of screens:

  • Video Walls: typically consisting of 3 to 4 screens in each branch, they are designed to create an immersive visual experience.
  • 22-inch Smart Tablets: Content loops to compensate for waiting time in-store.
  • Interactive Kiosks: The goal is to offer convenient access to services for customers in the branches. Telelogos software was crucial here as it secures the kiosk, restricting access only to authorized applications and settings. Additionally, when the kiosk is not in interactive mode, the solution can play a digital signage loop to inform customers about available services and switch back to interactive mode when a customer interacts with the kiosk.

  • Queue Management System: Telelogos' expertise was also pivotal in using SPP's existing queue management system, improving the overall customer experience by enabling content loops when the system is not in use. This is possible through an API implemented by Telelogos, that can be programmed to meet any specific needs.
  • LED Outdoor Screens: In addition to indoor screens, LED outdoor screens have been installed in five branches to display transportation-related content. Media4Display is used here to extract data, format it, and broadcast it in real-time on the screens.

This diverse range of equipment and content distribution methods ensures SPP can communicate effectively and flexibly with its customers.

The management of the new digital communication system is significantly simplified compared to their old paper display system. Today, the management the Media4Display solution is handled by three people for all content broadcast in branches and at the headquarters. Media4Display users appreciate the solution's adaptability to their needs. Finally, the local content broadcast feature is also a real plus, allowing content to be tailored according to branches for targeted communication.

Our dedicated pre-sales team was present to assist and advise Qex and SPP throughout the pre-deployment process.

The diverse range of operating systems and hardware (Android/Windows-Intel NUC) was one of the major challenges of this project but never an issue. Moreover, the close collaboration of the various teams ensured that each solution was utilized to its full potential to provide modern and attractive communication in every branch.

In summary, this digital signage project was a significant initiative that successfully transformed how SPP deploys its marketing content. SPP is now fully capable of managing the creation and distribution of its content internally, thanks to the help of Qex and its close collaboration with Telelogos. This initiative reflects Qex and Telelogos’ commitment to innovation and dedication to meeting the unique needs of our clients, despite the challenges posed by the diversity of hardware implementation.
